Timberlake Log Cabin 1808

Some years ago while I was working in Boone NC I met a man. I think it was 2004. In fact I bought some land adjoining him, to build authentic log cabins. Not knowing everything and not being nosy, but keeping my word on things we discussed, we became friends.

Mr. Sterling introduced me to Dan Timberlake, who is the son of internationally known realist painter, Bob Timberlake.

Dan and I talked about the Timberlake furniture collection, hunting and Carolina. One of the open houses my wife Karen & I attended, Dan mentioned he knew of an old log cabin. He said, “Bob ain’t going to ever put it up, got too many now and no where to put it.” He asked me if I’d be interested, well you know the answer to that! Dan kept true to his word.

I received a call from Frank Stoner with Bob Timberlake gallery stating everyone decided I could get the cabin, but Bob wanted to talk to me first. Sure enough, Mr. Bob called me. What a great conversation we had on August 30th, 2007. It is a true story with so many good people to tell about.

This authentic massive oak log cabin is Bob Timberlake’s sister cabin to his studio. It was constructed in 1808 and completed in 1809 in Lexington NC. These cabins and barns came off the Shoaf Plantation, one of the largest cabins known of its time.

This is a 20’ x 40’ full two story log cabin. The final resting place is now on Justice Plantation located in Chatham County, North Carolina.

I thank Mr. Bob and all the folks that allowed Karen and I to have the honor and trust to re-build this cabin. We’ve made a lot of friends thru this deal.
